Build the Alignment Engine
The Chamber of Us is built by a global community of volunteer engineers, researchers, designers, and strategists. We are using our own open-source tools to build the TCUS Superstack. If you're ready to use your skills to build infrastructure for a livable future, you're in the right place.
Our Contribution Process
We’re a structured, open-source community. Our process moves you efficiently from sign-up to impact—powered by our own “People Layer” tool, Libelle.
-
1
Join via Libelle
Create your profile, list your skills (React, Python, UI/UX, data science, research), and set your availability. Libelle helps us find the right pod for you.
-
2
Review Onboarding
Gain access to our core documentation, community guidelines, and governance model—learn how TCUS operates and how we build together.
-
3
Find Your Pod
Get matched to a working group (e.g., Quasar, Sentinel) or browse open project pods. You’ll collaborate where your skills matter most.
-
4
Start Building
Join your pod’s Slack channel and GitHub repo, pick up a ticket, and start contributing to the Superstack. Every contribution builds the future.
Global Community
Here’s the high-caliber, diverse community you’ll be joining
The Chamber of Us is powered by a distributed network of volunteer builders — engineers, designers, researchers, and strategists — working together to create systems that align people and data with sustainable progress.
Our pods include top-tier contributors from universities such as Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, UIUC, UMich, and Ohio State, alongside mothers, retirees, high school students in the U.S., and on-site professionals in Africa — like Hillary (data governance) and Robel (architecture). Together, we’re proving that collaboration can scale — and that the future is something we build, not wait for.
Find Your Pod: Active Workstreams
Our development is organized into working groups—called pods—each focused on a core layer of the TCUS Superstack. Find the pod that aligns with your skills and curiosity.
Quasar
Quasar is our data ingestion engine. The team normalizes scattered datasets, preserves provenance, and generates standardized “evidence packs” for decision-making across the Superstack.
Skills Needed
- Data Engineering (Python, ETL)
- Data Science (Validation, Pandas)
- Database Management
Sentinel
Sentinel is the sense-making engine. The pod models scenarios, ranks leverage points, and builds AI-augmented tools that measure alignment with SSP1 sustainability targets.
Skills Needed
- Machine Learning (Python, Scikit-learn)
- Data Science (Modeling, Analysis)
- Systems Thinking & Research
Lodestar
Lodestar develops our ethical “guardrails.” The team codifies governance standards, builds auditable decision ledgers, and crafts frameworks that ensure human-led AI and transparent accountability.
Skills Needed
- Backend Engineering (Python, Go)
- Ethical AI & Governance
- Policy & Legal Research
Libelle
Libelle is our live MVP—the coordination platform powering TCUS itself. The pod designs intuitive interfaces, improves matching algorithms, and refines the volunteer experience across all pods.
Skills Needed
- Frontend (React, JavaScript)
- UI/UX Design (Figma, Usability)
- Backend Engineering (Node.js, Python)
